Recipes

We are going to start this page with a couple of our family favourites.  However, if you have any that would be good to share - we have had many a natter in the shop with some wonderful ideas talked about - here is where we could write them!  If you email them to me or drop them in at the shop we will put them on here.  We must make sure we give credit to the author, especially if they are likely to sue us!!!

Grandma's Spicy Lamb

800g Cedar Organic lamb pieces - I usually use neck fillet,

2 onions, chopped

2 carrots, sliced

1 can tomatoes

4 tablespoons worcester sauce

1 pt beef stock

Salt to taste

Fry lamb until brown.  Add onions and carrots and fry for 2-3 mins.  Add tomatoes, sauce and stock and bring to the boil.  If you have a slo-cooker this will do 4-5hours on high, 7-10 hours on auto.  I usually put it in the fan oven at about 150-160C for an hour and a half.  Serve with rice.

Another delicious slo-cooker recipe is Beef Risotto.

500g Cedar Organic Minced Beef

1 bay leaf

1 onion, chopped

1 pt chicken stock

1 green pepper

2 garlic cloves, crushed

mixed herbs

1 can chopped tomatoes

4 oz button mushrooms

4 oz rice

Heat oil and lightly fry mince.  Add onion and fry until brown.  Stir in stock etc.  Bring to the boil.   Cook for 4 hours or so at 120C or in a slow cooker 4-7hrs high, 4.5-7hours auto.

Add rice one hour before cooking.  Stir and brown for a really rich appearance.  Delicious!
